🌴 A Vegan Paradise for Two: Our Wholesome Escape to Paradise Cove, Mauritius 🌱
In mid-June 2025, my husband pulled off the surprise of a lifetime — a romantic vegan getaway to Paradise Cove in Mauritius, tucked away on the quieter, sun-drenched north coast of the island. It was the perfect birthday treat, wrapped in sunshine, sea breeze, and some of the most unexpected and tasty plant-based dining we’ve ever had on a holiday. 💚
🏝️ First Impressions: Serenity, Smiles & Sustainability
From the moment we arrived, Paradise Cove lived up to its name. This adults-only, all-inclusive boutique resort is a colourful, calming sanctuary — ideal for couples looking to unwind. The staff were genuinely welcoming, always ready with a smile and helpful tip, whether it was for booking an excursion or sharing their vegan chocolate cake recipe.
A cherry on top? The resort’s commitment to sustainability — from using chemical-free, reef-safe sun lotion to encouraging low-impact water activities, everything felt thoughtfully designed for a chilled out stay.
🍽️ Let’s Talk Vegan Food: A Decent Feast in Paradise
We went in wondering if a luxury island resort would really “get” vegan food. Spoiler alert: they absolutely did — and then some.
Each day started with a buffet bursting with breakfast options: fresh tropical fruit, dairy-free milk, granola, grilled veggies, and warm local breads. On show the vegan options were limited, but the staff whipped us up vegan pancakes and extra trimmings to make sure we were well fed. But the real culinary stars shone at lunch and dinner time, thanks to a lineup of themed restaurants:
- ‘XO’ served up elegant Japanese-style plates — think miso-glazed tofu and crisp vegetable tempura.
- ‘The Pinnacle’ brought Mediterranean flair, with grilled aubergines, spiced couscous, and hearty ratatouille.
- The Snack Bar was a reliable hero — perfect for light bites like vegan wraps, fries, or falafel when we didn’t fancy the set menu.
- ‘The Cove‘ is a bookings only 7 course menu, set in individual mini lodges by the lagoon and quite romantic.
- The Main Dining Area offered a daily rotating buffet with plenty of labelled vegan options, and you could even check the next day’s menu in advance!
We were really excited about ‘The Cove’, the resort’s romantic fine dining spot. We were treated to an unforgettable 7-course vegan tasting menu — a beautifully paced journey through local and international flavours, each course looking more stunning than the last. From silky coconut soup to beetroot tartare and a decadent dairy-free chocolate dessert, it was easily a highlight of our trip. 🍫✨

Now, it didn’t taste as divine as we were hoping, and was just lacking that something special (especially for the price), but it was a lovely experience, and made us think of future spots back home and on our future trips. The fact they had these options was really the highlight for us.
even if all the food was not mega tasty (what restaurant is?), we were never left hungry — and always had delicious alternatives just a stroll away at the snack bar, which we renamed the fat bar because we ate there so much. They even import ‘Beyond Burgers’, so that was a real treat (or two, or three…)!
🚴♀️ Adventure & Laughter: Our Highlights Beyond the Plate
Of course, the trip wasn’t just about food — although we did joke that our forks got more exercise than we did! One of our favourite moments was the guided e-bike tour. I may or may not have toppled over right at the start (🙈), but after a few laughs and a little ego repair, it turned into a super fun way to explore the nearby towns and coastlines.
Back at the resort, we soaked up the water activities: kayaking, paddle boating, snorkelling, and even a glass-bottom boat trip to catch a peek at the marine life below. Every evening ended with live local music, creating a vibrant, feel-good atmosphere as the sun dipped behind the palms.

🌞 Final Thoughts: A Birthday to Remember
Paradise Cove delivered everything we didn’t know we needed: rest, reconnection, decent vegan food in a place that respects the environment and its guests in equal measure.
We had our own butlers of sustainability teaching us a thing or two about dinner etiquette and fun. Hubby named them Captain (of mischief) and Stripes. They added to the magic in their own way, and it was nice to see they were fed well by staff (and mostly guests like us).

Would we go back? Yes to avoid the British winter in exchange for 30*+ heat — BUT maybe return with fewer bruises from that bike ride next time. 😄
If you’re a vegan couple looking for a sun-kissed, flavour-packed holiday, add Paradise Cove to your list. It’s a little slice of conscious luxury that proves plant-based travel can be just as indulgent — and delicious — as any other. But Warmer with a side of excellent service!
Our Verdict: 8/10 😄
